Overview:

Often in business researchers are called upon to make a presentation of their research findings.

So, your team is being asked to give a presentation and lead a guided discussion on your preliminary research findings.

In the presentation you will provide your team’s insights and perspectives regarding the issue being studied. The guided discussion will encourage the audience to explore, discuss and comment on the topic, researching findings and conclusions.

In the business world, this is an excellent an opportunity for the researcher to raise their profile and demonstrate value to the organization

 

The Research Presentation:

The presentation will present information about the topic, what has been gathered from the research, what was the significance of the event and what might it mean to global businesses in the future. All sides and opinions that can be found should be presented. Show why a global business manager needs to be aware of your topic and the ramification it can have on a global business.

  • A PowerPoint Presentation
    • Summarize the research
    • Use good presentation practices as demonstrated in class
  • Between 20 to 25 minutes
    • Can include video support (not more than 8 minutes of video)
  • Presentation should contain the following information:
Title / Introduction

·        Team Members

·        Agenda

·        What is the research project subject?

·        Why this subject was of interest to the group?

·        Research Statement

Tell the audience what you are going to tell them
Body of the Presentation

·        The focus of the research and presentation

·        Issue Background (What?)

·        Facts, and details

·        Review of analysis done (So What?)

·        Conclusions and recommendations (What Next?)

Tell the audience what you want to tell them
Summary / Conclusions / Recommendations

·         Summary and Wrap up

NOTE: This subject list is not exhaustive. You may have other subject points you want to include. Also, each subject area may cover more than one slide.

 

The Guided Discussion: Each team will lead a guided discussion based on their research topic. The discussion will last 25minutes (+/- 2 minutes) and will be aimed at gathering different perspectives about the topic from the students. Teams should prepare open-ended questions and learning activities to generate classroom participation.  Teams will be evaluated on their prepared relevant questions including follow-up questions to stimulate discussion and systems thinking about the issue, if they asked a variety of question and spread them across the class and if they answered questions from the class with respect and relevance reflecting in-depth research and understanding of topic. Discussion lasts full 25 minutes.
