Forum Question: During this course we will be exploring many facets of Anthropology. I think it is important to remember those early practitioners of the field who really are responsible for guiding and shaping anthropology into the science it is today. Franz Boas is considered the father of American Anthropology. In many ways, his attitudes towards the study of humanity helped drive and shape the early development of the field. One of the many ideas that he espoused was the importance of the four-subfield approach to Anthropology. After defining the discipline of U.S. anthropology and the four-field approach, please tell me why the four-subfield approach is so important to anthropology.
