School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS)

The Unit 9 will delve into the three tiers of School-Wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS). The procedures and interventions that are offered in each ascending tier will be examined. You will learn how students are placed into the various tiers, and examination will be made of the evidence-based social skills programs that you can incorporate into a SWPBS program. Make every effort to complete the reading beforehand so you are able to discuss the following:

  1. List the three tiers of SWPBS and the characteristics of each.
  2. Describe the Trinity of Behavior Management and discuss the need for this approach in Tier 3 of SWPBS program.
  3. Explain wraparound services and discuss how these services align with the Ecological Systems Model.
  4. Relate the effects culturally-responsive social skills programs have on culturally and linguistically diverse students.
